Technology is one of the determining factors for the effectiveness of national defence, so it is important to improve and develop new innovations in strengthening national defence. Regarding this, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) side-by-side with BTI Defense signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was held in the ITS Rectorate Building on Monday (18/7).
BTI Defence is a company engaged in weaponry, control systems, and navigation whose main focus is in the field of national maritime defence. The signing of the MoU itself is intended to develop technology that is able to strengthen Indonesia's military defence.
Co-founder and Director of BTI Defence Peter Tjahjono said that Indonesia needed a technological transformation in this field to improve national defence and minimize the risk of accidents due to equipment malfunctions. He said in his speech "It takes creativity and innovation of young people who understand in this field,"
On the same occasion, ITS Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng mentioned that the innovation that BTI Defense wanted to develop, especially in the maritime field, had a scientific focus that was very close to the development of science at ITS. The man who is familiarly called Ashari said, ITS already has innovations engaged in this field, such as environmentally friendly bullets, unmanned submarines, autonomous ship drones, and many more. "our University is always open to collaborating with outside parties to develop technology for the benefit of the nation," he said.
