National Pride: The Synergy Between PT BTI Indo Tekno and PT Terafulk Megantara at APM Expo Singapore 2026

At the Asia Pacific Maritime Expo Singapore, PT BTI Indo Tekno signed a strategic cooperation agreement with PT Terafulk Megantara Design as part of its continued efforts to advance the local content of Indonesia’s maritime defense industry. The signing took place at the IPERINDO booth and marked a concrete step in strengthening collaboration between national defense industry players on an international platform.

The cooperation focuses on the design development of the Submarine Rescue Vehicle System, a dedicated submarine rescue platform designed to support emergency response operations. The system is being developed with rescue capacity 53 passengers and 3 operators in a single mission, positioning it among the more capable solutions in its class.

As part of the collaboration, PT Terafulk Megantara Design will be responsible for the vessel’s design development, ensuring that its naval architecture and technical configuration meet operational requirements. The design process will cover key aspects of system integration, safety standards, and mission readiness in accordance with modern submarine rescue operations.

Commenting on the agreement, the Director of PT BTI Indo Tekno, Mr. Peter Tjahjono, stated:

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to delivering advanced maritime defense technology for Indonesia. Through the development of the Submarine Rescue Vehicle System, we aim to strengthen the Indonesian Navy’s operational capability while ensuring the highest level of safety for submarine crews.”

Meanwhile, the Director of PT Terafulk Megantara Design, Mr. Edy Widarto, highlighted the role of national engineering capability in the project:

“This project represents an opportunity to demonstrate the capability of Indonesian naval architects and engineers in delivering maritime systems. Through the optimization of local content, we aim to contribute to the development of an independent and competitive domestic shipbuilding industry.”

The project, commissioned by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, also reflects a strong commitment to national industrial participation, with a local content target of more than 25 percent, covering materials, equipment, and construction services within Indonesia.
